The UK Adult Dependent Relative (ADR) visa enables certain adult family members to join their relatives in the UK when they require long-term care due to age, illness, or disability. The Adult Dependent Relative (ADR) visa is designed for individuals who need daily assistance with tasks like cooking, dressing, and bathing, and who cannot receive adequate care in their home country. As a result of a successful application for Adult Dependent Relative (ADR) visa, the applicant will be granted Indefinite Leave to Enter (ILE) to stay with the UK family member/relative.
To apply for Indefinite Leave to Enter (ILE) as an Adult Dependent Relative (ADR) from outside the UK, you do not need to prove your level of English or pass the Life in the UK Test.
This visa route is notably stringent, with a high refusal rate, and is only available to applicants outside the UK. However, an elderly dependent relative or family member may be eligible to apply for a Discretionary Leave to Remain (DLR) from within the UK, based on their family life with their UK relatives or family members, due to their dependency on them beyond normal emotional ties. As a result of a successful application for Discretionary Leave to Remain (DLR) outside the Immigration Rules, the applicant will be granted leave to remain for 30 months under the 10 years route to settlement.
